1956 Kohno/Kakuzo, Jaguar XK140 Official Pace Car in Original Box
Totally awesome triple-tone tin litho Jaguar XK140 2 door coupe manufactured by Bandai. Designated as "Official Pace Car". Comes complete with original box produced by Kohno/Kakuzo in Japan. This is a friction drive vehicle lithoed with red, yellow, and teal body. A checkered flag crossed with a 48 star U.S. flag was lithoed on the front hood. "Official Pace Car" on both doors and "500 Mile Race 1956" on the rear trunk. Fine details were lithoed on the interior and on the underside chassis (black with silver equipment). It has a split front windshield which is polished tin. The separately tabbed front and rear bumper, head lights and grille are also polished tin. Topping it off is an minutely designed rear license plate. The plate number, state (Virginia) and year are all there. The front license plate was lithoed with an accurate Jaguar logo. Lastly, the tires are solid black rubber with polished tin hubs. The box has a fantastic green, yellow, and red illustration of a Jaguar convertible shown from a perspective angle. The text accompanying the image was also drawn in perspective. An image of the car was printed on every panel including the endflaps. The Kohno/Kakuzo "propeller" style trademark can be seen in the first box photo; lower right corner. Size: All this neat stuff was squeezed onto a mere 6" toy. Sold: Mar. 2009
